The last Labour government introduced this act out of spite and perceived class hatred. It is not, and never was, anything to do with protecting animals. Why the contribution is important
This act has been proven to be unworkable.

Why the contribution is important
This law emerged in an attempt to restrict the activities of an imagined group of a particular social class while it has affected a wide range of people across the country. A restriction of civil liberties under the excuse of animal welfare despite the negative impact on animal welfare that the law can lead to.One of the ultimate examples of bad laws made with a motive other than the benefit of the British public.
Well obviously it doesn’t benefit the British public, because the British public aren’t being mercilessly chased by a pack of slathering dogs. I bet the foxes are pretty damned happy about it, though.

by Suzanne ThorpeThe ban imposed on the feeding of pigeons in Trafalger Square and in other areas and cities of the U.K. is inhumane and also infringes the human rights of those who believe birds have a right to life and not slow starvation, and as such all bans should be lifted.
Pigeons aren’t stupid. Well, not that stupid. They don’t exist on a purely “stuff thrown at them by tourists” diet.

Yeah! I mean, it’s not like animal testing has ever resulted in serious medical breakthroughs or advancement in medical technologies! People aren’t rats. People are people. Duh.

by Sukarma Burman RoyUK has a 6-month quarantine rule for pets arriving from certain countries, including India. However, dogs who have followed rigorous vaccination schedule and use the same vaccines as those approved by the UK authorities (e.g. anti-rabies vaccine like Rabisin) get bracketed with those who do not. Please consider if this rule can be waived for my pet, who arrived into UK on 08 Jan 2010, since she has been vaccinated appropriately, with detailed record. A blood test to confirm this will be welcome.
I don’t think petitioning the Prime Minister about your dog is a particularly good use of your time.

Can you tell the difference between this petition…:
by Tobias HaynesThis is a petition to limit cars to 70 MPH; Why are cars made capable to do high speeds reaching 120MPH etc when our laws clearly state 70MPH is the Maximum possible throughout the country?
Lorries and other vehicles are limited and forced to obey limits… Long gone are the days where nothing could be done…Technology makes limiting cars possible. A nut and bolt is all it takes. A minimum cost saving countless lives, freeing up our hospitals from constant RTA’s and a mass reduction in motorway Road Rage, tailgating and “Motorway Bullying”. People are afraid to use our motorways. Cars are constantly dangerously driving on our motorways being continuous hazards and nothing is being done! In 2008 49% of Cars exceeded the 70MPH speed limit-15% travelling above 80MPH! This is unacceptable! Our government must take account of this and something must be done! It is a simple matter simply resolved!
Car insurance costs would decrease, “boy racers” and speeders would decline (if not disappear!), new statutory offences could be created making offences for attempting to remove limiters or driving without a limiter etc.
Please sign and make a difference- Make our roads safer!
Thank You

by joe challenor of the zeitgeist movementThe monetry system is now outdated and un-nessecary.It is a pyramid system of scarcity.Unequal access for people of the nessecitys and wants of life.We now have the technology and knowledge to create abundance. If we have abundance then the scarecity based monetry system becomes obsolete. A resource based economy will solve nearly all of the worlds current problems. No excageration.
I tell you what. You come up with a proper system, and demonstrate it with slideshows and diagrams and everything, and we’ll have a look at it. Because right now all you’ve sent in is a bunch of utter nonsense gibberish.
by Laura FellowesPaul and Rachel Chandler’s kidnap took place near the Seychelles on a boat at gunpoint. The British government have said they will not engage in agreements for ransoms. This is two peoples lives, their families, and the next innocent travellers this will happen to. Are the British Government really doing everything they can to help the Chandlers?
No, they aren’t. And given the circumstances, that’s exactly what they should be doing for reasons I’ve already stated.
And finally, two people who, I’m guessing, are vegetarian:
by MR Hngshin Devendra Dsramy-Williams of University of OxfordIt’s obvious that meats require far greater amounts of resources to produce than vegetables. Their environmental impact is also correspondingly greater. Given the need to reduce our aggregate consumption of increasingly scarce resources, it therefore makes sense to provide incentives for people to reduce their consumption of meat – via a tax. This should shift consumption to better foods like fruits and vegetables, which should also improve peoples’ health.
by Adam WelchScientific studies have proven that the meat and dairy industry produces MORE greenhouse gases than all of the world’s transport and aviation combined. In light of this, the government should tax the meat industry (including farmers, slaughterhouses and butchers) just as heavily as it taxes motorists.
But meat is delicious, so you lose the argument by default.

Some dogs are dangerous! Therefore all dogs are dangerous! What does the government intend to do about it? Well, these guys have a few ideas…
by Roxanne CoghillIn the current climate of media a lot of hype is put on dangerous dogs and the dangerous dogs act but not enough light is shed on the owners and lack of training for these animals. Many dogs are loving and friendly but lack of training can lead the friendliest of dogs to behave badly and even end up themselves, other dogs or humans.
Compulsory training for all new dog owners would leave the owner with the confidence to control and look after their pet and the the dog with the ability to socially interact with other humans and dogs, decreasing attacks on adults and children within UK homes.
Yes. Three months seems reasonable. And while we’re at it…
by Mr Richard BarberIn light of recent dog attacks, it is time to re-introduce a license for the ownership of a dog.
This would require an owner to attend compulsory ownership classes and submit their property to inspection as a suitable premises for the dog.
The dog license would be for a single animal and would require additional licensing should the pet lover wish to own further dogs.
And obviously the dog would need checking up after 50,000 miles or two years, whichever comes first.
But hold on, maybe we’re looking at this the wrong way.
by Lewis Warrington of Chelmsford Collegebelieve that to many dogs are being given a bad reputation because of the attacks occurring, when in fact it is the owners of the dogs who should take the punishment.
Yes! Every dog owner everywhere, forever! They should all be lashed! Beaten! Fined, and so forth! What were we talking about again?

Remember Cathy Connor’s petition to prevent landlords from “discriminating against children”? Well apparently she sent it twice as today the ePetition admin team, in their endless, bounteous wisdom, authorised another, identical petition. It has one minor difference from the one we shared yesterday – an additional “s” in the URL. Genius.

I’m sharing this petition not because I have a problem with preventing cruelty to animals, but because I think the notion that being couped up on a box is the only thing stopping a chicken from writing an award-winning novel or from becoming a Fireman is a fundamentally comical one.
Of course, the obvious solution is this:

by Mr Jan Paul GiergielRenting a property should not be the pain it is at the moment, as a Renter myself I am fed up of Landlords feel that they can dictate how you should use the property that you are paying them handsomely to occupy.
I believe that a landlord should only be able to demand that the property is in the same condition at the end of a tenancy as when the tenancy began. I feel it is unfair that they can impose silly restrictions i.e. No Pets. I feel that this is an infringement of ones human rights, I think that as owning becomes further and further away from the average person the tenant MUST be given more rights and freedom during a tenancy.
But it’s not your property. It’s theirs.

by Cathy ConnorStop landlords discriminating against children. Landlords routinely specify no DSS, smokers, pets or children. Children are valuable and full members of society and need a secure home. The law should not allow private landlord to make providing this more difficult. Other minority groups are protected by anti discrimination legislation with regard to housing and children should be afforded the same rights.
I’m going to refer to a bit of text from a previous petition complaining about landlords who forbid pets from living in their properties. Obviously I have to change one or two words but it’s pretty much applicable here.
Many landlords prefer to disallow children for a number of reasons. The scent and hair can be difficult to clean out, for instance, which means if another potential tenant with, say, a child allergy comes to look at the property they wouldn’t be able to take it because they might die.
