It is ridiculous that there are three different bodies controlling aspects of football in England. The FA, the Premier League and the Football League should merge so that football in this country can move forward. Currently we have created a haven for failed politicians and businessmen whilst football people like SIR Trevor Brooking get sidelined.

Okay, seriously. You have to learn to distinguish England the state from England the football team. I don’t remember seeing a glut of ‘Prevent Iceland From Raising The Price Of Frozen Peas’ when Iceland the country went bankrupt, but I’ll admit that may be because I wasn’t subscribed to the Rejected Petition feed then.

More funds should be pushed towards child protection in the United Kingdom. Specifically, we feel there should be measures such as:

•Regular FULL health check-ups on children up until an agreed age.

•If there’s any speculation of child abuse (an incident which seems not an accident) then the child should be put into temporary foster until there’s evidence for the future decision of the child’s welfare.

•More money should be invested into benefits for those willing to adopt/foster in order to encourage those who are unsure about the costs of adopting a family of siblings, single child or one with disabilities.

•Better communication between agencies. Social services, the council, the police etc… should have STRONG communication in every case.

•More training of social workers- they should be there for the CHILDREN over the parents so they should be more ruthless towards any suspect injuries or short-comings of the mother/father. They should get more on-site training before becoming a social worker.

•A new system to take place of the "At Risk" register- obviously there are some serious flaws in it and it needs to be more fit for purpose

Hello, is that the Government? Yes, good, hi. So, I heard this crazy rumour that Stephanie Jane Scott might have been abusing her kids. I mean it’s just a rumour, but… oh, really? What, just because I heard a rumour? Isn’t that a bit over the top? … Oh, well fair enough, I suppose. I mean, even if she hasn’t touched them, it’s probably in their best interests. See you later.

When the Parent With Care (PWC)is in receipt of Income Support, the amount they receive is reduced by the amount paid by the Non-Resident Parent (NRP) to the CSA. In effect it is considered to be income for the PWC rather than child maintenance. So the children never see it and the PWC, NRP and their children live in perpetual poverty. The child maintenance should be spent on the kids and not treated as income.

So you’re saying that you should get more free money because your wife left you than you would if she’d died or something? How is that fair?

all students from all schools go into there community once a week with teachers and police representatives to clean off graffitti pick up litter, paint, mend fences e.t.c this will encourage them to take a pride in and look after their own enviroment.

You want to reduce the amount of lessons in our already slightly-shit schools by 20% (even though your punctuation appears to be happening at random) and replace it with what is effectively the use of child labour to clean up city centres, and you think that will have some effect other than making children very, very angry and hate you? How will that work, exactly?

Stop Gay marriages in the church!!!!

God created a man and a woman. That is the end of the matter. Don’t bring same sex marriages in the church. It is not natural or normal. I am a christian and deeply offended by this sick act. That Will lead to the day of Judgement.

Presumably you also believe that God created a bunch of plants and animals too, so using your own logic it should be okay to marry them. You’d better go marry an otter then, before God gets all vengeful or something.

As football is our national sport; and plays a significant role in English culture. I believe that it should be our right to watch our national games free of charge on Terrestrial Television. I think that it is ridiculous that some families are unable to watch our football idols of England play the famous sport just because it is not on Terrestrial Television. Doing this would benefit our whole nation by bringing it together through our heroes who are from all over England.

I hate these petitions. There’s a ton of them and they are all started and signed by people who feel that they are somehow entitled to watch people kick a ball around a field just because they happen to be on our side. It’s football, for Glod’s sake. At what point does it become vital that everyone get to watch it for free?

The passion of England football fans is world famous. They sing their country’s National Anthem like no other fans. They devote huge amounts of effort and money to follow the England team around the world.

We urge the Prime Minister to persuade the FA to hold an England charity football match on St. George’s Day – England’s National Day.

We don’t expect the first team squad, the under-21s or similar will do fine. We just want to see if the FA are as passionate about England as the fans.

You mean, because the PM has such a hold over the FA? This is only here because you couldn’t find an email address for the FA, isn’t it? Also I think “passion” is perhaps putting it more politely than most of the world would.

I have recently been disgusted with the number of crimes against children and our vulnerable members of society, which are hitting our headlines at the moment, and the seemingly soft sentences dished out to the sadists and peadophiles who commit these crimes. I would like as much support as possible to this petition for tougher punishment, to STOP NOW this cruelty and aggression towards children and persons who are unable to defend themselves. Being a father myself, I am unable to comprehend how any human being can cause harm, pain, suffering, neglect and even death to any human being, let alone the defenceless. Please please please, lets unite against these monsters and eradicate them from our society forever, if we can save even 1 life then this petition will have been worth it. Harsher sentences would surely deter the evil beings from committing these crimes.

See, chemical castration or similar of paedophiles is perhaps not a bad idea. If you have an urge to do awful things and there’s medicine to make it go away that seems fairly sensible. I imagine there are paedophiles who would volunteer for that. But this is chemical castration as punishment for murder. That’s just barbaric.

I had a serious cancerous condition on my vocal chords caused by smoking, I had to stop smoking but I didn’t want to as I enjoyed it. My doctor warned me that if i continued smoking I would have ended up having my vocal chords removed, most likely within a year. I stoped smoking succesfully but every time I see someone smoking on the television, it makes me want to smoke again. I am scared that I will loose my will power and eventually give in to this. For the health of myself and other people could you please try to put an end to showing smoking on the television.

Stop watching TV, then. Listen to the radio — never see anyone smoking on that. You selfish bastard.

The TV licence players deserve more, ALL BBC dvd’s should be available for £1.99 or max £2.99 to licence fee payers. Start this before Christmas and it could kick start the economy with DVD sales and make a happy Christmas for all. Mr Brown, I and the other petitioners ask of you to add and make this in law and make the BBC give us something back for our money.

Is this to kick-start the DVDs-on-eBay industry?

Prevent the BBC being Generous with other peoples money by SPENDING Licence Fees on ‘Sponsorship’ of Art such as the £30,000 recently spent on a small metal bird by Tracey Ermen.
Licence Fees are ONLY to be spent on providing programmes & Improving Services. Fees paid to Artistes such as Jonathon Ross to relate to OTHER public Sector salaries.

This is flirting with Sensible in places. Unfortunately her friend Coherent is standing all alone at the other end of the bar nursing a pint of Staropramen. Who the hell is Tracey Ermen?

      by Paul Butchart

Due to the current ecomonic down turn does the prime minister not think it would make sense to give the hard working people of this country an income tax holiday. This would be an easy way to prevent Christmas from being a disaster for the high street.

But… income tax is calculated annually. This isn’t even possible. Besides, the government will still need the same amount of money to run the country with.

As a pupil, I am simply appalled that instead of actually learning English grammar at GCSE level (with Edexcel at least) we are only required to analyse stories and poetry; write to describe, review and argue; and write about non-fiction texts.
I do not disagree with these current aspects of the syllabus, but I ask that the examination syllabi be more thorough in their examining.
A separate section which tests basic understanding of correct grammar and spelling would be a fantastic way to help stimulate our amazing language. I cannot see how some persons manage to cope with the detailed essay writing required without having a section on grammar.
I know it may seen very pedantic, but it simply infuriates me when people do not use the subjunctive mood correctly, or punctuate in the wrong places.
It is all right when people do these things accidentally, but I know for a fact that young persons nowadays are simply ignorant of correct grammar because it is simply not taught fully.
I hereby suggest that the Government ask the examination boards to make sure that they include a comprehensive grammar section which includes all the nuances of our mother tongue.

Then leave those poor semicolons alone. What did they ever do to you? People who abuse semicolons should be chemically castrated. It’s the only language they understand.

The more money bosses can save by scrapping overtime, xmas bonuses and other rewards to staff are then given to these bosses at the companies and employees expense. Bosses should not be allowed to gain personally by taking away from his or hers employees. Also to stop companies being allowed to change an employees contract by just giving the appropriate notice.

This was nearly making sense until the last sentence. What on Earth does Price think he’s asking for there?

      by Joseph James

Many families are made up with children, each with a different father. Fathers of those children must be identified because unless identified their child’s support is covered by our social system and the fathers are free to father other children causing further cost to the tax payer in general.

I can think of a potential difficulty in identifying these people.

by Barbara Bain of Society For The Protection Of Innocence

Our aim is to preserve the innocence of children.
This means that all sex and intimate relationship education is the responsibility of parents and not schools. Sex education stimulates curiosity and destroys innocence, and can lead to experimentations. It is not a satisfactory option to allow individual children to be withdrawn from the lessons because these topics become a seemingly acceptable conversation for the playground to which all children are exposed.

Heaven forbid we teach children important things. Is this like how ‘fresh’ means ‘cold and minty’ if you’re a toothpaste company — now ‘innocence’ means ‘ignorance’ if you have children? This is one of those cases like homeschooling where the people who want it are exactly the same group as those that mustn’t be allowed it.

Too many people are in debt at the moment, and with the ever increasing cost of living, personal debts are spiralling out of control.

I am calling for an amnesty on debt, whereby 50% of all personal debt is written off for people willing to make regular and timely payments on the remainder of the total balance.

And where does this money come from? Oh, right. From me. I’m going to say ‘no’ to your Robin Hood Tax.

The so called BBC scandal regarding Jonathan Ross pointed out the fact he is paid £18,000,000 a year by the BBC. I have never seen anyone on TV worth anything like that sort of money. The fact that the BBC would throw away that sort of money on one person disgusts me. If the BBC are willing to waste licence payers money like that then it is definitely time the licence was reduced year on year leaving the BBC to earn it’s living the way all other broadcaster do.

        Oh, of course.

Need I say more, it’s obvious that if VAT is cut this will affect everybody, cutting the interest rate only affects people with a mortgage. For everyday people trying to afford groceries etc, this is a must. Money needs to be saved for everyone 17.5% is a joke!! Look at the other countries!!!

I was with you up until you started using an excessive number of exclamation marks. Actually that’s not true – I was never with you at all. I just didn’t want to bruise your ego.

In recent weeks it has emerged that media coverage of a story resulted in many people making complaints about a radio show that the vast majority hadn’t even tuned in to. As a result the programme in question was axed. As the story unfolded it would seem that with the media manipulation it was taken out of all perspective. Now, those listeners who tuned in every week were denied their choice of how TV licence money was spent. A support group was set up on a social networking site to match the number of complaints, which it did and more. But,the authorities have chosen not to recognise this public opinion and have dismissed the group as misguided youths. I would like to see more respect for the online community and the numbers of people who set up support groups, these numbers should be taken into consideration for reporting procedures.

I’m trying to work out whether there is a serious issue to be faced here, or if you just want Gordon Brown to accept your Friend Request.

The people are fed up with the attitude of the banks, we have helped them through a tough time and have had NO! reward in return, on our loans or mortgages. We want the desission reversed give us our money back or give the people the interest the banks are earning on what they have been given from us.

that all sporting events, football, rugby, cricket etc held at international level is made free to all. That means forcing Sky or Setanta to use an unscrambled signal on a channel everyone can have free access to.

I still don’t get why people think that they should be entitled to free sporting events just because the a British team is playing.

        by H.Golding

With declining standards in TV/radio, channels are now airing explicitly sexual shows of a pornographic nature. Virgin 1’s ‘Sexcetera’/ Channel 4’s ‘Sex Education Show’ are examples, whilst so-called comedy like ‘Little Britain’ & similar are filled with crude, smutty innuendo. Media glorifies violence/immorality as ‘cool’ & to be aspired to, influencing young minds & doing nothing to discourage today’s gang culture. We don’t want these shows even AFTER the watershed. We’re told if we don’t like it, then switch off! This allows standards to further degrade. We demand a return to decency/morality by broadcasters. The supposed defence that censorship is ALWAYS wrong, doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. Society censors behaviour all the time. If not, why have laws, as all behaviour, even murder, would be OK! The constant drip of immoral/indecent viewing/listening material, can & does lower society’s standards too. This is not a simplistic conclusion. It’s common sense!

I’m half-tempted to sign this petition, if only to get Little Britain off of the telly. In the end though, it’s about Censorship. And also being stupid.

        by Scott Lawson

The only way we can protect our children from abuse and incense, is to for social service to monitor every child from birth until the age of sixteen. The social worker could be responsible for a maximum of six children and provide detailed reports on each child. In the long term this would save social services and the tax payer time and money.

Monitor every child in the country? From birth? Wouldn’t this turn England in a sort-of… Nanny State?

…introduce legislation to change the law so that local government authorities who are responsible for the disbursement of council tax, are legally obliged to appoint, at random, from the list of council tax payers in their geographical area of responsibility, a panel of 6 independent overseers, with full executive authority, to oversee ALL expenditure. Half of the panel (3 members) to be changed after one year and each year thereafter so that no panel member can serve more than two years; no panel member can ever be allowed to serve more than once; any panel member who ceases to be a council taxpayer must immediately be replaced.

By Keith Jones of Taxpaying Pensioner without political affiliation

This petition was prompted by reports that a council was paying over GBP1 million to rent a house for an immigrant family in London who were living off taxpayer funded social security benefits at the same time. It is a fact that the many hundreds of thousands of people who pay into the council tax fund of their individual areas have absolutely no control nor oversight of what happens to the money. It is merely doled out by council officers who are exempted from any accountability and responsibility for the success or failure of their activities. It is time that use of this money was monitored and oversighted by the people who pay it.

Ben: As Andrew has pointed out, giving Power of Veto to people who potentially have no understanding of the decision-making process is probably not the wisest decision. I mean, that’s what America has done for the past eight years, and look at what’s going on there.
