This is exactly how you respond to the government doing something you disapprove of. I hope you’re taking notes, Keith Jones.

Ho ho! The title of this post is ironic!
by Margaret KingThis is in response, or reaction, to a petition against racism in schools; I signed that petition but I’m sure there is at least as much, if not more, sexism in schools: e.g. boys calling girls “slags” (if they do make themselves sexually available) or “tight” if they don’t etc. There is also what is known as the “hidden curriculum” in which girls internalise ideas about what is suitable for them, as girls who will become women, by observing the relative positions of male and female school staff. And, of course, there was the recent report of the Head of an independent girls’ school telling her pupils that, as girls, they couldn’t “have it all”; my view of this is that women could have more if men, as a matter of course, had less and the fact that they don’t seem prepared to is, almost certainly, due to the sexism experienced in schools.
Ho ho! The requested act is impossible!

by Cathy ConnorStop landlords discriminating against children. Landlords routinely specify no DSS, smokers, pets or children. Children are valuable and full members of society and need a secure home. The law should not allow private landlord to make providing this more difficult. Other minority groups are protected by anti discrimination legislation with regard to housing and children should be afforded the same rights.
I’m going to refer to a bit of text from a previous petition complaining about landlords who forbid pets from living in their properties. Obviously I have to change one or two words but it’s pretty much applicable here.
Many landlords prefer to disallow children for a number of reasons. The scent and hair can be difficult to clean out, for instance, which means if another potential tenant with, say, a child allergy comes to look at the property they wouldn’t be able to take it because they might die.

Christopher Bristow really likes his hydrogen-powered cars.
by Mr Christopher Bristowto combat climate change by the introduction and eventual change over of an alternative and non polluting feul of hydrogen gas.
by Christopher Bristowmore than 20% of uk CO2 emissions are produced from the nations car exhausts. The thought behind this petition is to advise the government to create a bigger incentive to car manufacteurers in producing hydrogen feul cell cars and to feul stations in providing hydrogen fill up points, to the eventual event of a switch over to hydrogen cars when a growing trade produces as if not more efficent hydrogen car than the standard petrol and deisel cars.
As pointed by Robert Llewellyn, who is famous for playing a square-headed robot in a sitcom and is therefore an expert on such things, hydrogen power actually expends more energy than is collected. You have to use a ridiculous amount of electricity on rather a lot of water to get a halfway decent amount of hydrogen and that, to me, seems rather wasteful.

by Ann WotherspoonI would ask the Governmen to change the law on advertising on the TV / billboards / National Newspapers etc so that half naked women are used to sell products. Women twirling around in bra and knickers to advertise stores should be only shown (if at all) after the watershed. Our children should not be shown images that portray women with very little clothes on as a sex object which is advertising a perfume, a car, a brand of clothing from a shop etc… How can women be taken seriously by men or indeed other women, if they are being bought up with images of car shows using incredibly scantily clad girls in front of the cars with absolutely no purpose other than to draw the croud in. The way women are portrayed in advertising lines the way for this & the next generation to continue with the belief that women are there purely as beautiful accessories to use when a product need shifting from the shelves.
But you’re apparently alright with half-naked men appearing on TV to advertise stuff to… well, to anyone, really.

by Mr Joel Henry ThompsonI would like the prime minister to enforce caps on mobile networks. By this I mean capping the bill. All mobile networks should do this as it benefits the customer and stops the customer being charged ridiculous amounts.
Now if mobile networks refuse to do this then I feel at the very least they should include these features.
One when you phone to find out how many minutes and texts you have left the network should also tell you if your being charged for anything that isn’t included in your monthly bill e.g. Premium rate numbers/Texts.
They should also Phone you when you do something with your phone that you don’t normally do. For example phoning a premium rate number or accessing the internet etc.
Finally it should be there job to tell you that you have spent over your monthly contract when say it goes to more than double your normal monthly contract cost.
Your last request there makes sense – I wish mobile phone providers would let you know when you’re approaching your available free minutes – but everything else here is… you do know you’re a grown up, right? Presumably you know what your mobile phone contract entails, and you’re adult enough to know that sending texts and calling premium rate numbers costs money.
Finally, the crux of your request – capping the bill. Well, that’s shit, isn’t it? What you’re basically saying is “I want to be able to call everyone everywhere forever, but not be charged through the nose for it.” Which is bollocks. Grow up, for fuck’s sake.

by Paul boothwhen analogue is turned off make it free for everyone to watch tv either through Sky,Virgin,Freeview Box,Tv with freeview included and a computer.Because people already pay enough subscriptions any how.
So it’s not just the TV license you want gone, you basically want to be able to watch everything, forever, for free.
Fuck off, Paul.

by Kevin CliffordReversing a vehicle in a car park or elsewhere can be a tricky manoeuvre. Even the most observant and diligent driver cannot see all around their vehicle at all times. It is therefore foolish at best and dangerous at worst that pedestrians regularly walk alongside or behind a reversing vehicle, especially if they are accompanying children. The proposal is that this act is made a criminal offence, either with a fine of say, £100 or five hours community service. This issue is pertinent to road safety.
And how would you enforce this law, Mr Clifford? And why do you even have a car when internet research has revealed that you are, in fact, a Big Red Dog?

by kelly lawlerits a hard ,full time job being a parent and very rewarding too ,but its not fair how some parents have to struggle alone. most of us dont have help on hand and struggle to make ends meet. the absent parent should face a jail sentance if they dont pay for their children.the csa does not do enough and are lenient on the absent parent. this is wrong. you can go to jail for not paying council tax so why cant you go to jail for not paying child support? children are more important. it takes 2 to make a baby, you should not be allowed to run away from your responsibilty. pay or face jail !!!
And, what, once they’re in jail they’ll see the error of their ways and start paying, will they?
