The worst thing our government did was to communicate in xyz foreign languages and should have insisted that those who come here speak understand and write English. over-tolerance is not a help towards assimilation My parents would not allow us to speak Dutch when we came from Holland in 1940

And more’s the pity, because if they’d encouraged you to speak Dutch instead of teaching you English we might have been spared this mind-meltingly insulting petition.
